You know what else I appreciate? The fact that I get to write horror stories for the world to hear! It’s a pretty awesome gig, and I do not take it for granted.

The Flapping Paper

Simon watched the corner of the paper undulate as the ceiling fan provided its artificial breeze from above.

“Could we freeze the brain?” Simon’s lab assistant asked.

“Freeze what?”

“The brain? Could we freeze it?”

“It’s too late. Too much degradation.” Simon sighed and looked away from the flapping paper. “And I’m bored with the idea of reanimating flesh, anyway. Boooooored.”

“Oh? What do you want to focus on instead?”

“Control.”

“Control?”

“Yes. Control. I want to invent some way where everyone must do what I say.” He steepled his fingers and grinned. “Yes. Everyone must do what Simon says.”
