Ghost Driver
By
Jake Bible
The gear shift vibrates in my hand as I crash it from second to third.
While the transmission protests and the clutch tries to kick back, I steal a glance in the rearview mirror.
Where’d they go?
But I can’t worry about them now.
I have a junkyard to get out of.
The tires nearly lose their grip as I downshift and take a sharp turn around a rusted-out Camaro.
Then I’m blocked.
Eight of them, hands glowing green.
Damn witches. Always ruining the fun.
What’s the point of being a ghost driver if you aren’t allowed to drive, right?
