Watch It Fall

The dish fell from her hands.
All she could do was watch it fall…
“Honey? You alright in there?”
She heard him, but responding was beyond her.
Everything was beyond her…
“Honey?”
The man came into the kitchen, concern clouding his features.
She knew the concern was feigned…
“Let me get a broom.”
The man went to the closet and fetched a broom.
She watched it all…
“I don’t know you,” she said, finally finding her voice.
The man paused his sweeping. He frowned. Shrugged. Sighed.
“Experiment 3,896 is a failure. Reset.”
All she could do was watch herself fall…
