“Cruelty is an art.”
I try to turn my head toward the voice, but the restraints are too tight.
“It has to be an art, or it simply goes from cruelty to brutality to just base, animalistic violence. No, no, with cruelty there should be a subtlety involved.”
I’ve asked him to let me go. Multiple times. While he hasn’t refused, simply because he hasn’t replied, I can tell from his lengthy exposition on cruelty that my release is not imminent.
“And you are lucky. You get to experience the subtleties I have honed over the years.”
Yay…lucky me…
