"The toaster died.”
The blender and juicer paused their conversation regarding the proper speed for the mastication of collard greens.
"I'm sorry, but what did you just say?” the juicer asked.
“Yeah, bro, don’t be playing like that," the blender added.
The rice cooker sighed, glanced at the air fryer who was beside herself, then lowered their voice.
"Died this morning,” the rice cooker said. “Suicide.”
“Suicide?" the juicer exclaimed. “Why…?”
“He was gonna be replaced," the rice cooker said. “The Owners were talking about it.”
“Who’s next, bro…?” the blender asked.
The appliances shivered as the air fryer sobbed.
