The Cylinder and A Dagger

The apparatus was like from another world. The young man stared in wonder.
“What is it?”
“A phonograph,” the shopkeep replied. “It plays these wax cylinders.”
“Plays them? Like a guitar?”
“No, no, let me show you.”
The shopkeep placed a cylinder into the apparatus, wound the arm on the side, then lowered the needle.
“HAIL SATAN! LET EVIL REIGN ON EARTH! LET THE BLOOD OF THE UNBELIEVERS FILL THE LAKES AND THE VALLEYS!”
“Oh dear,” the shopkeeper said as he pulled the needle away from the cylinder and a dagger from his belt. “You weren’t supposed to hear that.”
