It was over, Noel knew.

“Just tell me where it’s hidden,” Kovic said, “then you live.”

Noel could see the lie in the sneers on the faces of Kovic’s minions.

Didn't really matter, though. Not anymore.

“You sure you want to know?” Noel asked around broken teeth and swollen lips.

“I do not fear its power,” Kovic said.

“It’s in the closet,” Noel said and felt sudden relief wash over him.

“The closet? The monster is in the closet?” Kovic laughed.

The laughter died when a minion opened the closet door.

Everyone died when the minion opened the closet door…
