Friday Night Drabble Party!
Happy New Year!
You probably already noticed I took the last two weeks of 2022 off. Just some needed R&R. It was a wonderful holiday season with friends and family and homemade Chex mix (snack crack). Crazy, as always, but nice.
That brings us to 2023!
What will this year hold for Jake Bible Fiction (JBF)? Good question. Thank you for asking.
I am renaming this newsletter/podcast. Thinking of going old school and returning to the original name of my blog way back in 2007 when I started my website- Brain Squeezins. I’m not in the suburbs anymore. I don’t write full time anymore. Lots of changes. Yet things feel strangely familiar. Going back to my roots…
Even though I may be going retro with the newsletter/podcast name, I have so much new stuff on the horizon that 2023 should be quite the year. A possible TV show, a couple ideas on audio plays, some really interesting ideas on how to use Substack to publish new fiction and audiobooks instead of just going through traditional retail outlets, new novels to write, and about six pilot scripts and at least one screenplay to write/revise/revise/revise. So much!
I’m not switching things up anytime soon. The not writing full time cuts into my creative productivity. But probably by the spring this feed will look a little different.
Know what else is exciting? 100 words of free fiction! Let’s get to that drabble!
Again, Happy New Year!
“Obviously. Caskers? What’s out landing ETA?”
“Six minutes, ma’am.”
“Keep an eye on those…”
“Vines. Let’s call them vines.”
“Per Hafez’s suggestion, we’ll call them vines. Got it, Caskers?”
“Got it, ma’am. Avoid the vines. They do look like they’re moving, though.”
“Thank you, Hafez, for the confirmation.”
“It’ll be a hard landing, ma’am.”
“Maybe we should abort? Run a couple more… Hold up… What’s that?”
“I don’t see what you are looking at, Hafez.”
“That! In the center! Are those…teeth?”
“Already on it, ma’am.”
“Good job, Caskers.”
