Something Tainted

The “On Air” light shines brightly on the wall.
“As I was saying,” I continue, my mouth millimeters from the microphone. “They only drink the blood of the healthy. For all you Hep cats out there, whether that’s Hep A, B, or C, you’re safe. TB folks, too. HIV is on that list, as well.”
I take a sip of water. My throat is dry from broadcasting for hours, for days.
I look down at the row of dirty needles I found in a dumpster.
“So if you got something tainted. Fucking use it…”
I prick my finger and smile.
