Friday Night Drabble Party!
Happy Friday!
The spring has sprung and all that jazz. Which means it’s either 8o degrees or a blizzard. Yay!
Know what else is yay, but not in a sarcastic way?
The Strange by Nathan Ballingrud
Nathan is one of the best writers out there. No joke, y’all.
And The Strange? Holy shit! It’s alt-history mixed with a brilliant homage to the pulp fiction of the early 20th century.
This is the real stuff, y’all.
No. Seriously. Do that. Then come back and read this week’s drabble.
DO IT!
Cheers!

Unfortunate
By
Jake Bible
Craters.
That’s all Captain Malcom could see.
Craters.
Everywhere.
“Command?” the captain called, the weak mic in her helmet failing to capture her despair. “It’s all gone.”
“We read you, Captain,” command replied, one of the techs trying to sound brave from their safe seat a million miles above. “Elaborate”
Captain Malcolm sighed then scoffed then sighed again.
“Craters,” she finally responded. “It’s all craters. The whole surface has been blasted to Hell and gone.”
“That is…unfortunate,” was the reply.
The captain snorted.
Yes, it was unfortunate that Earth had been obliterated.
That was the understatement of the century.
